Have a picnic

With Lancaster County’s endless bounty of food (try some edibles from Lancaster Central Market) and its many parks and country spots, there are endless opportunities for a great family picnic.

Hike Mount Gretna

Though it’s just outside Lancaster County in Lebanon County, this beautiful spot sports wonderful cottages, walking trails, a picturesque lake and a great place for ice cream, called the Jigger Shop.

The Route 30 outlet stores offer something for all ages, from clothes to electronics to family dining. And nearby is the always popular children’s attraction Dutch Wonderland.

Take a drive

Go sightseeing through the renowned Lancaster County countryside. Get the family in the car and check out the beauty of the area, from Pequea to Penn Township, and from the Susquehanna River to the Chester County line.

Visit Strasburg

From the Strasburg Rail Road, which offers holiday visits from the Easter Bunny to rides with Santa Claus, to ice cream at the Strasburg Creamery, the borough offers a glance at Lancaster County through history’s eyes.

Walk Lititz

Named the Coolest Small Town in America by Budget Travel in 2013, this town has great appeal for adults – with great restaurants, bars and shops – and also has things for younger visitors as well, including Lititz Springs Park and the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery. Group tours are available.
